Free Elderly Computer and Technology Education

Overview

Grace Global Vision respectfully requests funding from Open Bank to support the launch and ongoing operation of the Elderly Computer and Technology Education Program, an initiative dedicated to empowering seniors with essential digital literacy skills. This program aims to bridge the digital divide by providing seniors with hands-on, accessible training that enables them to confidently navigate computers, smartphones, and the internet—tools essential for communication, health management, and everyday functioning in today’s digital world.

  • Program Need

Many seniors face barriers in using technology, leading to social isolation, difficulty accessing services, and decreased independence. As telehealth, online banking, and virtual communication become increasingly standard, elderly individuals without digital literacy are at risk of being left behind. This program addresses that gap by offering structured education and personalized support designed specifically for older adults.

  • Program Description

The Elderly Computer and Technology Education Program provides seniors with practical, beginner-friendly training in essential digital skills. Through small-group learning and individualized mentoring, participants gain the confidence and ability to use modern devices for everyday needs.

This component ensures no senior is left without ongoing support.

Ongoing Learning Resources

Participants will receive:

  • Printed guides with step-by-step instructions

  • A resource hotline for follow-up questions

These materials allow seniors to continue practicing at home at their own pace.

  • Program Goals and Objectives

This initiative is designed to promote independence, reduce social isolation, and help seniors remain connected and informed.

Goals

  1. Increase digital literacy among seniors so they can independently use computers and smartphones.
  2. Improve seniors’ ability to access essential online resources such as telehealth, community programs, and online banking.
  3. Strengthen connection with family, friends, and community through digital communication.

Objectives

  • Train at least 100 seniors in core digital skills during the first year.
  • Provide individual mentoring to at least 75% of program participants.
  • Ensure 80% of participants demonstrate improved confidence and ability in using technology, measured through pre- and post-program assessments.
  • Expected Impact

By gaining essential digital skills, seniors will be able to:

  • Communicate regularly with family via video calls and messaging
  • Access health care portals and telehealth services
  • Manage personal affairs online with greater independence
  • Participate in virtual community events, faith gatherings, and social opportunities

These outcomes promote dignity, confidence, and connection—core values that greatly enhance the quality of life for aging adults.
